Winter Wonderland Retreat: Ladies Snowshoeing Trip to Elk Lakes or Elizabeth Parker Hut ACC Hut.

Escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and embark on a rejuvenating winter adventure with our exclusive Women' s-Only Snowshoeing Trip to the Elk Lakes/ Elizabeth Parker Alpine Club of Canada (ACC) Cabin. Nestled in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, this trip promises an unforgettable blend of breathtaking landscapes, camaraderie, and cozy cabin living. Join us for a night filled with crisp mountain air, snowy landscapes, and the warmth of like-minded women.

Guided by experienced ACMG Guides, we'll embark on snowshoeing trails that showcase the stunning winter scenery without encountering avalanche terrain. As we traverse gentle trails and navigate through the peaceful winter landscape you will enjoy the company of like-minded women and relish the serenity of the snow-laden forest. The 10 - 11 km hike is designed for moderate difficulty, ensuring an enjoyable experience for participants of various fitness levels.

Itinerary and Gear

Planned Itinerary

  • Day 1:

    This day is for a pre -trip meeting only. Your ACMG Guide will welcome you in the evening, provide a orientation, and ensure everyone is geared up with snowshoes and ready to hit the trail. Our meeting will take place in person at 6:30pm in Canmore, AB. Location TBD. We will make sure everyone has everything they need, introduce the group, laugh lots, and distribute the group gear.

  • Day 2:

    Our journey begins as we gather at the trailhead, where excited chatter and laughter set the tone for the adventure. We will venture out for the excursion to the Elizabeth Parker Hut. The distance is approximately 10 kilometers it will take 4-6 hours on trail to snowshoe to the hut including our stop for lunch in the beautiful snowscape.

  • Day 3:

    On our final day, after a delicious breakfast at the hut, we'll bid farewell to Elk Lakes with a sense of accomplishment that comes from shared outdoor experiences. Along the way we'll learn some navigation tips and tricks and discuss the various conditions for our route out.

 

Level of Difficulty

This trip is designed for beginner to experienced snowshoers and a moderate fitness level. You will need to be comfortable with moving outside with a 25 lbs backpack for up to 6 hours outside in the winter time.

Gear, Food and Lodging

  • Backcountry skills learning

  • Accommodations at a Alpine Club of Canada Hut

  • Safety equipment: Bear Spray, Communication Device, First Aid Kit

Participants must provide:

  • Accommodations the night before getting on the trail
  • Transportation to the trailhead
  • Kananaskis Conservation Pass or a National Parks Pass(carpooling will limit the number of passes needed).

  • Breakfast and Lunch of day 1 and supper on the last day
  • Personal Gear (Can be arranged for an additional fee - thermarests are NOT needed)
